We’re delighted to have been successful in our application to the NHS Leadership Academy to become a pilot site for the High Potential Scheme (HPS), having been selected from a large number of bids. The scheme will be led by Caroline Donovan, SRO for the Together We’re Better Leadership and Organisational Development programme.
The aim of the scheme is to identify, support and develop people in our workforce who have the potential to be our leaders of the future. This exciting opportunity will be available to people working, delivering and supporting NHS-funded care across the whole of Staffordshire. Successful participants will have structured career support and tailored leadership development to accelerate their progression into senior roles.
We anticipate this opportunity will enable a diverse and inclusive cohort of leaders for the future, linked to pipelines of talent across Staffordshire. More information about this story is available here.
Our work this month also includes an exciting primary care event looking at locality working in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Our aim going into this event was to agree a vision for locality working in the county, looking at the objectives and characteristics of delivering services in this way.
It was attended by system leaders and a variety of general practice staff from across the patch, including GPs, practice nurses, practice managers, members of the Alliance Boards and many more. Speakers included Sir Neil McKay, Independent Chair of TWB, Marcus Warnes, Accountable Officer for the six Staffordshire CCGs, and Peter Spilsbury, Director of NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support’s Unit’s Strategy Unit.
Our OD programme Lead Caroline Donovan said: “This event was a fantastic opportunity for partners and staff to come together to discuss our emerging architecture and what locality working may look like in the future in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. A presentation from the Behavioural Psychology Department at Warwick Business School allowed us to think about how to support our workforce with not only the organisational changes needed, but also the mind shift and behavioural changes necessary to allow for this type of working.”
