NHS England has announced that Sir Neil McKay has been appointed as the Chair of the Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP).
Sir Neil will also continue in his role as the Chair of our local Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent STP, Together We’re Better.
With extensive experience of healthcare operations and strategic development, he has operated at the highest levels in the NHS and has undertaken some of the most complex and demanding system leadership roles in the country. He is known for his work with a number of STPs and is ideally placed to support the two counties to deliver their ambitious priorities.
Simon Whitehouse, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent STP Director, said: “We would like to congratulate Sir Neil on his new appointment. He will continue as the Independent Chair of our local STP, sharing his experience of delivering sustainable system change.
“Working across the two neighbouring STPs will provide increased opportunities for collaboration and support the sharing of best practice across health and social care services.”
Sir Neil McKay, Independent Chair of the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent STP, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to support two neighbouring STPs, both with ambitious priorities and at the same time local challenges and approaches. I am looking forward to identifying new ways that we can support integrated working, drive forward efficiency and importantly deliver quality care for local people.
“I am absolutely committed to supporting our local STP, and it is exciting to see our clinically led work programmes gaining momentum. We are busy planning for public engagement to provisionally start next Spring and I am looking forward to listening to the views of local communities.”
