NHS vaccination teams are uniting with local fire stations across Staffordshire to offer walk-in clinics to patients seeking the COVID-19 jab this month (October).

Fire stations across Staffordshire and Stoke-On-Trent will be opening their doors to people who are eligible to receive their first or second Moderna vaccine dose who have not yet chosen to do so.

Dr Paddy Hannigan, Clinical Lead for the vaccination programme said: “It is vitally important that as many people as possible receive their full COVID-19 vaccine, both for their own health and the safety of the wider community, so we want to make it as easy possible for everyone eligible to get both doses.

“We understand that for some people making an appointment on weekdays or committing to a time, in general, may be difficult or inconvenient, so nationally and locally we introduced walk-in clinics.

With walk-in clinics, you find one that you want to attend online, then you just appear on the day, no appointment is needed.

“The vaccination programme has been a monumental national effort which has seen the NHS working with partners in local government, and our police and fire services along with an army of volunteers. We would like to thank Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service for supporting our work by making these fire stations available for our walk-in clinics.”

Up-to-date details and times for all Staffordshire COVID-19 vaccination walk-in clinics, including those being held at local fire stations, can be found at

Station Manager Richard Williams, of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “As a fire service we are dedicated to saving lives and serving our local community, so volunteering these stations as sites for local walk-in COVID-19 vaccination centres was an easy decision to make and we are glad to help.

“However, we would ask people to note that these walk-in clinics are being run by the NHS using the fire stations as a location - please do not contact the fire stations themselves or the fire service with any queries about appointments.”

Patients who are eligible for a vaccine can also book an appointment at another vaccination site by calling 119 or visiting
